About Us

Oz Dance Studio was established in 2001 and believes in professional dance education for all dance students, whether they are aspiring professionals or not! The opportunities in our children's futures cannot be foreseen. Their dance skills can blossom in a variety of ways, and their love and devotion of dance can peek at different times.

Their dance experience does shape their perspective of life. So, choose a better dance program that builds their character and confidence, so that your child will be ready for those challenging opportunities when they arise. The kindness and respect for the students of our school inspires students to strive for their personal best. The rewards of dancing in a professional school comes to each student through inner awareness and growth.

The enthusiasm and joy that each student experiences is a result of personal achievement. Excellent dance training and small class sizes foster careful and progressive development of each and every students unique style.

Dance Styles

Kinder Dance
From 2 ½ years of age. Our Kinder Dancers are taught the basic fundamentals of Jazz and Ballet technique as well as encouraging imagination and creative movement. Our Kinder Dance classes use popular, upbeat music that kids know and love Children learn to move their bodies in sync with the music with beat and rhythm. This class is all about fun, but provides great dance foundations.

Enrolling in the Kinder Dance class, dancers must:
1. be at least 2 ½ years of age
2. be able to follow instructions
3. most importantly want to dance!

Tap - Glenn Wood Syllabus

Tap is an energetic and dynamic form of dance, which has become more popular with the young and old since the Tap Dogs and "Bootmen"

Jazz - JazzAddict Australasia Syllabus
Jazz is a modern style form of dance which includes across the floor movements, kicks, turns, floor work and sharp movements and is danced to popular chart music., many children and teenagers find jazz enjoyable for fun and fitness. It is recommended that Jazz and Ballet be learnt together as they complement one another.

Song & Dance
Learn to sing and dance in the same class. Teaches students musical theatre and characterisations.

Hip Hop/Breakdance - Broken Beat Syllabus
A street style of dance which originated from the Bronx in New York City. The most modern style at present utilizing hip-hop music and may include popin, lockin and some Breakdance style moves incorporated in the class.

Ballet - RAD (Royal Academy of Dance)
Ballet is the foundation to all dance forms. Students are taught to stand correctly and develop the posture and co-ordination for everyday life. Ballet consists of soft flowing movements set to classical music.

Neo-Classical
Neo-classical stems from classical ballet but allows for a more free range series of movements with much less theatrical meaning.

Contemporary
A blend of ballet and modern dance. It builds a strong 'centre' and combines precision leg work with fluidity of the torso. Alternative and unusual music is often used.

Eisteddfods, Competitions & Promo shows

This is for the more serious dancer who wants to do more performance work. They can do solo/duo/trio or troupe work.

Zumba Fitness
Zumba combines high energy and motivating music with unique moves and combinations that allow the Zumba participants to dance away their worries. It is based on the principle that a workout should be
"FUN AND EASY TO DO" allowing Zumba participants to stick to the Zumba Fitness program and achieve long-term health benefits. Zumba is a “feel-happy” workout that is great for both the body and the mind.

Examinations & Medal Tests

We offer the following dance association examinations:

  • CLASSICAL BALLET - 5 years and older
  • JAZZADDICTS - 5 years and older
  • GLENN WOOD TAP - 5 years and older
  • BROKEN BEAT HIP HOP - 6years and older

Examinations are optional, however we recommend all students take examinations, where possible.

Jazz & Tap examinations usually take place in August. Examinations may take place during school hours.

Examination students will be required to attend extra lessons prior to the examinations.

Ballet students must attend extra lessons during the July school holidays. Ballet students from Grade 1 upwards wishing to do examinations must attend two ballet classes per week. If they do not, they will only be eligible to take an assessment. Parents are responsible for paying the examination fees and must ensure that their children have the correct uniform. The principal reserves the right to enter students or not.

Uniform and Dress Regulations

OUR UNIFORM IS PART OF THE REQUIRED DISCIPLINE FOR DANCE. THE OZ DANCE STUDIO JACKET IS ONLY AVAILABLE FROM MISS CHANTE.

PLEASE NOTE: OZ DANCE STUDIOť IS A REGISTERED COMPANY AND YOU MAY NOT HAVE OUR NAME EMBROIDERED OR PRINTED ON YOUR OWN ITEMS.

All students are required to wear the correct uniform for their class, with Hip Hop and Boyz only classes being the only exception. New students have 2 weeks to get their uniform together.

General grooming

  • All students must come to class neatly groomed.
  • Ballet student's hair must be in a bun.
  • Other students must have hair off the face and tied back.
  • No T-shirts to be worn in class (except Hip Hop/Breakdance).
  • No hanging jewellery and no watches are to be worn in class.
  • Matching cross-over's may be worn when cold.
  • MUST BRING A WATER BOTTLE TO EVERY CLASS.
  • NO CHEWING GUM ALLOWED IN CLASS OR ANYWHERE IN THE STUDIO.
